S/V ACALEPHE makes third Bellot Strait transit but through the western ice?

Prince Regent Inlet.
August 19 to 31.
Very open to open drift first-year ice with a trace of old ice melting 
completely during the last week of August.

Gulf of Boothia.
August 19 to 31.
Over the northern section bergy water. Over the southern section very 
open drift first-year ice except for close to very close pack first-year 
ice over the southeastern section southwest of Fury and Hecla Strait and 
the southwestern section north of Pelly Bay. A trace of old ice embedded 
in the pack ice. Ice over the extreme southern section becoming open 
drift to close pack ice during the last week of August. 

September 1 to 15.
Over the northern section bergy water. Over the southern section very 
open to open drift first-year ice with a trace of old ice.

Foxe Basin.
August 19 to 31.
Over the northeastern section, along the southeastern shore of Foxe Basin 
and the northeastern shore of Southampton Island open drift to close pack 
first-year ice becoming very open to open drift ice during the last week 
of August. Along the western shore of Foxe Basin very open to open drift 
first-year ice becoming very open drift ice during the last week of 
August. Elsewhere open water.

September 1 to 15.
Very open to open drift first-year ice over the northern section, along 
the southeastern and southwestern shores of Foxe Basin and the northern 
shore of Southampton Island. Ice melting completely over the northern 
section and along the eastern shore during the second week of September. 
Elsewhere open water.

Fury and Hecla Strait.
August 19 to 31.
Open drift to close pack first-year ice with a trace of old ice becoming 
very open to open drift ice at the end of August. 

September 1 to 15.
Very open to open drift first-year ice with a trace of old ice.



Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula.
August 19 to 31.
An area of very open to open drift old and first-year ice about 15 miles 
north of Cape Bathurst melting completely near the end of August. 
Elsewhere open water. 

September 1 to 15.
Ice free.

Mackenzie Bay to Cape Bathurst.
August 19 to 31.
An area of very open to open drift old and first-year ice about 15 miles 
north of Cape Bathurst melting completely near the end of August. 
Elsewhere open water. 

September 1 to 15.
Ice free.

Beaufort Sea south of 75°N.
August 19 to 31.
Open water within 15 miles of the shore near Cape Bathurst increasing to 
50 miles north of Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula to 100 miles north of the coast 
from Herschel Island to Point Barrow. Farther offshore and east of 140°W 
close to very close pack old and first-year ice. North of 72°N and west 
of 140°W open drift to close pack first-year ice with 2 tenths of old ice 
becoming very open to open drift ice during the last week of August.

September 1 to 15.
Open water within 30 miles of the shore near Cape Bathurst increasing to 
70 miles north of Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula to 120 miles north of the coast 
from Herschel Island to Point Barrow. Farther offshore and east of 142°W 
open drift to close pack old and first-year ice. North of 72°30'N and 
west of 142°W very open drift old and first-year ice. New ice forming in 
the pack ice near mid-September.

Cape Lisburne to Point Barrow.
August 19 to September 15.
Ice free. 

Queen Maud Gulf.
August 19 to September 15.
Ice free. 

Victoria Strait.
August 19 to 31.
Over the southwestern section very open drift first-year ice. Elsewhere 
open drift to close pack first-year ice. Ice melting completely over the 
western section and open drift to close pack ice over the eastern section 
during the last week of August. 

September 1 to 15.
Very open to open drift first-year ice.

Larsen Sound.
August 19 to 31.
Open drift to close pack first-year ice with a trace of old ice becoming 
very open to open drift ice during the last week of August. 

September 1 to 15.
Ice melting completely over the eastern section during the first week of 
September then open water. Elsewhere very open to open drift first-year 
ice with a trace of old ice.

Peel Sound.
August 19 to 31.
Very open to open drift first-year ice except for very close pack first-
year ice over the central section about 10 miles southwest of Bellot 
Strait and in the extreme northern section. A trace of old ice embedded 
in the pack ice over the extreme northern section. Ice becoming very open 
drift ice during the last week of August except for open drift to close 
pack ice over the northern third.

September 1 to 15.
Very open to open drift first-year ice with a trace of old ice over the 
northern third. Elsewhere ice melting completely during the first week of 
September then open water.

Viscount Melville Sound.
August 19 to 31.
Over the eastern section close to very close pack old and first-year ice. 
Over the southwestern section close to very close pack first-year ice 
with up to 2 tenths of old ice. Elsewhere and in shallow bays along the 
southern shore open water. Ice becoming close pack ice over the southern 
section and open water over the northern section during the last week of 
August. 

September 1 to 15.
Open drift to close pack old and first-year ice over the southeastern 
section. Close pack first-year ice with up to 2 tenths of old ice over 
the southwestern section. Elsewhere open water. New ice forming in the 
pack ice near mid-September.

M'Clure Strait.
August 19 to 31.
Close to very close pack first-year ice with 2 tenths of old ice except 
for very open drift old ice over the northern third. 

September 1 to 15.
Close pack first-year ice with 2 tenths of old ice except for very open 
drift old ice over the northern third.
