Mother Nature provides another butt kicking lesson to Frenchman Charles Hedrich on Arctic Northwest Passage in a rowboat

First narrowing of the Northwest Passage, the ice is between Sachs Harbour and Cape Bathurst. Will, will not you?

The cold is already happening, the night lasts now 7am and the temperature becomes negative. Gales succeed with a steady pace.

Breaking the lock seems possible but the train is a great risk. The blocks of ice, icebergs or growlers, may literally crush the rower. Anyway the passage is already closed between Cambridge Bay and Resolute. As Charles said before leaving "is dead." Global warming is not to go. In 2012 the passage is closed to Oct. 20 in one month and a half ... But the adventure it is. Theories are in the closet and practice premium. React on the ground decide avoid catastrophe.

Google has a hard time translating from Charle's French to English... lol

The cold has certainly set in the Arctic. I was hoping that Hedrich would have been able to make it to Cambridge Bay. Now it seems that his adventure might put him at great risk. I admire his resolve and would hope that he doesn't risk his life.
