JUST LOOK AT EACH INDIVIDUAL MARKER FOR THE TIME STAMP AND RELATIVE SHORT DISTANCE BETWEEN TIME STAMPS. ALSO NOTE THE JAGGED COURSE - MOST LIKELY FROM DODGING ICE. THE ROWBOAT COULD BE DRIFTING ELSE ANCHORED TO A LARGE ICE PIECE SO AS NOT TO ADVANCE INTO AND BE CAUGHT BY THE MAIN WIND DRIFTING ICE. I'M SURE THEY DON'T WANT TO BE VERY CLOSE AT ALL WITH SUCH A FRAGILE CRAFT BUILT OF HIGH TECH PLASTICS.

The rowers claim that they are “storm bound“
Note the sunshine in the cabin, light winds and temperature in the mid to upper 60s.
In other words, their hands are blistered and 50 miles away the route is blocked by ice.
They say they couldn’t make any progress because of the wind, which was 25 knots. Today it looks to be between 16 and 17 miles per hour. No ice for miles to hold them back. I would imagine it is often windy in the arctic regions. What will they do when they are out in open water and the wind starts to blow and there is no sheltering cove to hide in?

This animation shows why the rowers are pretending they are stuck in a storm. Over the weekend, ice blew on shore and blocked their route into the Canadian Archipelago.
